CARS Graudate StudentsThe CARS graduate program creates leaders for the apparel industry and business professionals who are in demand. If your vision is to apply ysmall-iconour interest in fashion to a career that will challenge and reward you, CARS will provide the academic, experiential and networking preparation you’ll need to reach your goal. Our graduates currently work as merchandisers, marketers, buyers, and product developers for organizations large and small across North Carolina and the globe. In addition, our program has a large international enrollment, particularly at the doctoral level. Students come from Taiwan, Thailand, Korea, India, South America and Canada. Their world perspective becomes part of classroom learning and discussion and is just one way we foster your global outlook on the industry.

CARS offers graduate programs leading to a post-baccalaureate certificate, a master of science degree, and a doctor of philosophy degree. Courses focus on consumer, apparel and retail issues with emphasis on consumer behavior, marketing and product development. You’ll also have the opportunity to select supporting coursework in related disciplines such as business, sociology, anthropology and statistics.

Accelerated BS to MS Degree Program

Are you an undergraduate student currently majoring in CARS? Are you interested in earning credits toward a graduate degree while completing your bachelor’s? Do you have a GPA of 3.5 or higher? If you answered yes to all of these questions, then consider the Accelerated BS to MS Degree Program (ADP) in Consumer, Apparel and Retail Studies. With just an additional semester or two, you will graduate with an advanced degree in hand.   • A cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 based on at least 30 hours earned at UNCG is required.
  • Applicants must have completed at least 60 semester credits and may not apply for admission to the ADP before the first semester of the junior year.
  • All applicants must submit the Request for Accelerated Degree Program to the Graduate School and must simultaneously apply for admission to the graduate degree program.
