“Much of the research in information systems and information technology (IS/IT) has been
dominated by a U.S-centric or a Western-centric view. Research paradigms and models developed for the
U.S. and Western Europe are just that, i.e., applicable primarily in the western context. Unsuspecting
researchers have taken the same models and applied them to other nations, e.g., underdeveloped
countries, emerging economies, transitional economies, and middle-eastern countries. The results have
been misguided and spurious in many cases. “

ISSCM Professional Development Guest Speaker Series: Christopher Laney 9/19/2013

In the next ISSCM Professional Development Guest Speaker Series, we are delighted to welcome Mr. Christopher Laney, President and CEO of Zenergy Technologies (

Based in Greensboro, Zenergy Technologies specializes in best of breed IT Quality Assurance (QA) and testing solutions. Mr Laney has over twenty years experience in the IT industry with sixteen specifically in QA & testing. A US Navy veteran and graduate of East Carolina University, Chris was executive vice president and co-owner of a successful 65-person software consulting firm.

In 2006, the Triad Business Journal recognized Chris as one of its 40 Leaders under 40. Chris often volunteers in the Greensboro community, having served as board president for two successful non-profits. He also speaks often to numerous civic and community organizations on topics such as networking for life and finding one’s passion. In his free time, Chris writes for magazines, flies planes, teaches fitness classes and enjoys life with his wife and three sons in Greensboro.

We at the ISSCM Department are fortunate to enjoy a wonderful relationship with Zenergy. Many UNCG IS graduates work at Zenergy. In addition, Chris and his team continue to be very generous with their time and expertise in supporting the Systems Analysis and Design (ISM 301 and ISM 452) students through the years.

Chris will share his perspective on IT, IT QA and Zenergy and will be happy to answer your questions.
