MSITM Program Structure

Students Studying Outside

The MSITM curriculum is comprised of three components:

Basic Business Knowledge

Courses are designed for students who have not already completed equivalent coursework and specific learning objectives. All basic business knowledge level courses may be waived by students who have completed equivalent academic course work and who can meet specific learning objectives. Applicants should consult with the ISOM Graduate Program Director for course waiver information. They include:
  • Financial Accounting
  • Operations Management

Hours Available: 6
Minimum Hours Required: 0

Core Courses

Core level courses are required for all students, regardless of prior experience and/or coursework. Core level courses include topics in:
  • ISM 671 Data Management
  • ISM 672 Web Programming
  • ISM 673 Telecommunications and Networks
  • ISM 674 Systems Analysis and Design
  • ISM 675 Business Analytics
  • ISM 676 Information Security and Privacy
  • ISM 677 Information Systems Management
  • ISM 678 Project Management

Hours Available: 24
Minimum Hours Required: 24

Thesis or Non-Thesis Option

Minimum Hours Required For Both Options: 6

Students admitted to the MSITM program must choose a. Thesis or b. Non-thesis option

  1. Thesis option
    Students can register for 3 hours within one semester or over multiple semesters.
    Thesis course number is ISM699.
  2. Non-thesis option

Students who decide to choose the Non-thesis option must complete the Capstone in Information Technology course (ISM698) and at least 3 hours of Elective level courses.

With the approval of the ISOM Graduate Program Director, a student will select at least 3 hours of a graduate level course from the following or other approved courses. Note: All MBA courses are face-to-face and students are eligible to take these courses provided they are willing to be in campus for the classes and pay any extra fees for such courses.

  • SCM 651 Transportation, Logistics & Distribution Management (3 hrs.)
  • SCM 652 Strategic Cost, Design, Procurement and Contracts (3 hrs.)
