The UNC Greensboro Bryan School of Business and Economics is delighted to announce its new assistant dean of external affairs.

Jaap-Jan van Duin, who has worked as Senior Director of Marketing and Business Development at UNCG Online since 2013, will begin his new role with the Bryan School July 1.

Jaap-Jan van Duin has worked as Senior Director of Marketing and Business Development at UNCG Online since 2013.

“We had an exceptionally strong and deep pool of applicants for the opening. It included former and sitting university VPs, corporate executives, and a number of faculty directors of different functions. Jaap-Jan was selected because he had the most experience across the Office of External Affairs portfolio, and he had the greatest experience specifically in the critical areas of academic marketing and communications and aspects of student recruiting at both the undergraduate and graduate levels,” said Bryan School Dean McRae Banks. “I believe he will be able to hit the ground running because of that experience; because he knows the Bryan School and UNCG; and because he is well-respected among faculty, staff, and administrators at UNCG and does not have to forge new internal relationships.”

Along with his decade in higher education, van Duin brings nearly 20 years of business experience with Nike to the position.

“His success at UNCG Online, and in two different regional director positions for Nike Europe and as general manager for Nike Netherlands prior to that speaks volumes about what I think he can do for us,” said Banks.

Van Duin will replace Joseph Erba, who recently announced his retirement. Erba served as a lecturer with the Bryan School before taking on the assistant dean role in 2015.
