The Consumer, Apparel and Retail Studies Department kicked off the Bryan School’s Virtual Collaboratory for Sustainable Business Practices with an event called Sustainability: The Key to Future Growth on October 22, 2019. This event brought together top industry experts, including NPD Group’s Marshal Cohen, to explore the role of sustainability in retail today throughout North America.
The afternoon started with a Keynote Presentation by Marshal Cohen on the changing retail and consumer landscape; identifying challenges and opportunities to grow in the future. This presentation was followed by a panel which included Marshal Cohen, Chief Industry Advisor at The NPD Group, Chad Bolick, VP of Brand Sales at Unifi Corporation, Dr. Jesse Daystar, Chief Sustainability Officer and Vice President of Sustainability at Cotton Incorporated, and Scott Deitz, VP of Investor and Corporate Relations for Kontoor Brands. At the end, the audience had the opportunity to ask questions about what directly affects them and gain an insider perspective from the leaders of these major corporations.
The discussion was followed by a reception where networking with these industry leaders was highly encouraged. The CARS department is extremely grateful to our panelists as well as VF for supporting the Virtual Collaboratory for Sustainable Business Practices.
The first event of the Virtual Collaboratory for Sustainable Business Practices was a great success and the CARS department is excited for what’s to come!
