Faculty and Staff

Patricia Cates is a Lecturer of Accounting in the Bryan School of Business and Economics at UNCG. Ms. Cates is an alumnus of UNCG, having received both her Bachelor of Science and her Master of Science in Accounting from the University. Prior to joining the faculty at UNCG, Ms. Cates served in a progression of positions with the National Board for Certified Counselors & Affiliates (NBCC), joining as a staff accountant and progressing to the position of Chief Business Officer while at NBCC. She entered the academic field in 2001 as an instructor of accounting at Guilford Technical Community College and advanced to the position of Department Chair and Interim Division Chair during her tenure there.

Ms. Cates joined the UNCG faculty in 2018 and her course instruction includes introductory accounting classes at the undergraduate level as well as Taxation of Corporation and Shareholders at the graduate level. She holds a current CPA license in the state of North Carolina, holds the Chartered Global Management Accountant Designation, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the NC Association of CPAs.
