
Dr. Bobby Lamy

Background
Bobby Lamy joined the UNCG faculty in 2018 and serves as a Finance Lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Finance in the Bryan School of Business and Economics. Dr. Lamy holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Louisiana State University and an M.B.A. from Southeastern Louisiana University and has extensive teaching experience at both Wake Forest University and Virginia Tech. He is a past recipient of the Sara Lee Award for Excellence in Teaching and Research from Wake Forest, where he served as the Babcock Research Professor. In addition to his university experience, Dr. Lamy has also served in key roles in the areas of curriculum development and design and practice analysis at the CFA Institute, a global association of investment professionals dedicated to promoting the highest standards of ethics and education in the industry. He holds the professional designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) from the Institute. With his return to the university setting, Dr. Lamy teaches courses in the areas of business finance and financial institutions and markets at UNCG.
Throughout his career, Dr. Lamy has served as a financial consultant in both the private and public sector, including work with the Association of Corporate Counsel Credentialing Institute, Triad Guaranty Insurance Corporation, Bank of America, Lehman Brothers, and Lowes Home Improvement, among others. In recognition of his strong commitment to community service both professionally and personally, he was awarded the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award in 2017.
