Dr. Lijun Lei
Department of Accounting and Finance
Lijun (Gillian) Lei joined the faculty of the Department of Accounting and Finance at UNCG in 2017 after receiving her Ph.D. in Accounting and Information Systems from Virginia Tech and serves as an Assistant Professor in the department. Dr. Lei holds a bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from Shanghai Jiaotong University (China) and a Master of Science in Accountancy from University of Notre Dame. Prior to pursuing an academic career, she worked as an assurance associate for PricewaterhouseCoopers. In only her second year at UNCG, Dr. Lei was awarded the Junior Teaching Excellence Award for the Bryan School of Business and Economics for the 2018-2019 academic year.
Dr. Lei’s current course instruction includes financial and managerial accounting in the MBA program and a graduate level seminar in contemporary accounting issues. Her research interests include financial reporting, non-financial disclosure, executive compensation, and data analytics. She has published in such journals as the Journal of Information Systems and the Journal of Accounting Literature. Dr. Lei has presented her research at both the university setting and national conferences. She is a Certified Public Accountant (active) and a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (charter pending on professional experience). Her professional memberships include the American Accounting Association and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
