Background

Ayalew (Lulu) Lulseged is an Associate Professor of Accounting and a recipient of the Dean and Tracy Priddy Dean’s Notable Scholar Award in the Bryan School of Business and Economics. Dr. Lulseged holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from Louisiana State University and joined the faculty at UNCG in 2010 after serving as an assistant professor of accounting at Rutgers University and Florida State University. He has taught courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels including intermediate accounting, introductory financial accounting, cost accounting, and specialized accounting entities. On numerous occasions throughout his academic career, Dr. Lulseged has been recognized as a teaching excellence award nominee. During his tenure at UNCG, he has served the Bryan School and the University in various capacities including as a member of the University Faculty Welfare and Compensation Committee, the Bryan School Undergraduate Programs Committee and both the Undergraduate Accounting Curriculum and MSA Committees.

Dr. Lulseged’s research interests are in the areas of auditor quality, auditor independence, executive compensation, corporate governance, firm performance and valuation, family firms, sustainability reporting, PCAOB and accounting choice. Throughout the course of his academic career, his research has been published in numerous refereed journals including The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, and Journal of Business Research. Dr. Lulseged is a member of the American Accounting Association and the AAA Auditing Section.
