Background
Jim Milanese joined the faculty of UNCG as a Finance Lecturer in the Bryan School of Business and Economics in 2000. An alumnus of UNCG, Mr. Milanese received his Bachelor of Science in Finance, his MA in Applied Economics with a concentration in Financial Economics, and his MBA from the University. His experience in the field of finance and economics has included work as a financial analyst in the area of capital investments and service in the non-profit sector as chief financial officer in charge of business development with responsibilities that encompassed strategic planning, budget creation, financial record keeping and report preparation, and grant writing. He continues to remain active as a financial consultant in the corporate, education, and non-profit sectors in the areas of corporate finance, strategic planning, and investment.
At UNCG, Mr. Milanese draws on his experience with course instruction in the areas of entrepreneurial finance, personal finance, business finance, and investments. Outside of the classroom, he serves as the faculty advisor for the Spartan Investment Club, a student organization which provides opportunities for professional development in the financial services and investment industries through interaction with industry representatives and participation in sponsored competitions. In recognition of his successful work with students, Mr. Milanese was awarded the Bryan School Teaching Excellence Award in 2007.
