Background

DIANNE H.B. WELSH is the Hayes Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship and Founding Director of the Entrepreneurship Programs at The University of North Carolina Greensboro. She has previously founded two entrepreneurship programs/centers and has held three endowed professorships. In 2015, Dianne was the Fulbright-Hall Distinguished Chair in Entrepreneurship for Central Europe. Dianne is a recognized scholar in family business, international entrepreneurship, women-owned businesses, and franchising and has authored seven books and over 150 publications. Her books include Creative Cross-Disciplinary Entrepreneurship, Global Entrepreneurship, and Case Studies in Global Entrepreneurship. She served as Chair for the Technology and Innovation Management Division of the Academy of Management. Dianne is a Fellow in the Family Firm Institute, U.S. Association for Small Business & Entrepreneurship, Small Business Institute, and the Pan-Pacific Business Association. She was a Presidential Appointee to the USAF Academy. In 2019, she won the North Carolina Board of Governors Teaching Award, and the Family Firm Institute’s Hollander Award for lifetime achievements.

She has consulted for Fortune 50 businesses, family businesses, franchises, and high growth businesses throughout the world. Dianne has assisted ten universities in implementing programs across campus in the US, Australia, and South Africa.
