Background
Daniel Winkler joined the faculty at UNCG in 1986 and is currently a Professor of Finance in the Department of Accounting and Finance in the Bryan School of Business and Economics. Dr. Winkler completed a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of South Carolina and an M.B.A. from the University of Central Florida. During his tenure at UNCG, he has served as head of the Department of Accounting and Finance and is a former chair of the Faculty Senate. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in corporate finance, financial institutions, investments, and real estate and serves the department and the Bryan School through leadership and service on numerous committees, including the MBA Program Committee, the Graduate Program Committee, the Finance Curriculum Committee, the ACF Advisory Board and others.
Throughout the course of his academic career, Dr. Winkler’s extensive real estate research has been published in more than sixty articles in refereed journals including Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Research, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Land Economics, Journal of Housing Economics, Journal of Risk and Insurance, and The Appraisal Journal. He has presented his research findings on a regular basis to the American Real Estate Society, as well as to the American Real Estate Association and the Annual Accounting Symposium, among others, and has received numerous grants and awards in this area of research. In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, Dr. Winkler currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Real Estate Research.
