Fellowships and assistantships

In addition to financial aid, many students pursue the opportunity to receive an honorary fellowship, scholarship or graduate student assistantship as a way to defray the costs of their graduate education. These positions are both labor intensive and highly competitive and are reserved for students pursuing a full-time course load. In order to receive full consideration for these awards, it is highly recommended that applications for admissions be completed by March 1st.

Bryan Fellowship

The Joseph M. Bryan School of Business and Economics seeks to attract graduate students of exceptional academic ability and talent through the Bryan Fellowship Awards Program. These fellowships are funded by the Kathleen Price and Joseph M. Bryan Endowment Fund for the school. Recipients of these fellowships are recognized as Bryan Fellows and receive fellowship awards valued at a minimum of $2,000.

These fellowships are renewable, provided the recipient maintains educational program performance standards expected of Bryan Fellows.

The selection of Bryan Fellows is based upon demonstrated academic excellence and potential for success in business and economics careers. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis, but priority deadlines for the Fall semester are March 15th.

Stanley and Dorothy Frank Entrepreneurship Fellowship

The Stanley and Dorothy Frank Entrepreneurship Fellowship is a $1,000 award given annually to one entering MBA student who has experience starting and owning a business, or if no candidate meets this criterion, may be awarded to an individual who has been employed in a management-level position in a business entity and plans to begin his/her own business in the future. No application is required, and the Fellowship is renewable provided the student maintains a B grade average or higher.

Graduate Assistantships

The Bryan School also offers graduate assistantships to full-time students in the evening or day programs. Applicants for assistantships must have been unconditionally admitted into the MBA degree program. Assistants are usually employed to assist faculty members or work in one of the Bryan School’s administrative units for as many as 20 hours per week over the nine-month academic year. In a few cases, the out-of-state tuition differential for the fall and spring semesters may be waived for applicants appointed to an assistantship.

In the event that the Bryan School is unable to offer a graduate assistantship, admitted MBA students are encouraged to search the Student Employment Office’s listings for other available graduate assistantship positions on campus.
