Threads 13th Annual Fashion Show: “Under the Seam”

Posted on April 12, 2018

Threads, the Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies (CARS) student organization, held their 13th Annual Spring Fashion Show at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Greensboro on Saturday, April 7. The event featured student designs made by freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors majoring in Apparel Product Design. The theme for this year’s show, “Under the Seam”, was inspired by the sea.

The show consisted of three parts. Part one, “Under the Seam,” featured designs inspired by the ocean. Part two, entitled “Unconventional Recycled”, featured garments made using only materials that can be recycled and was inspired by the environment and sustainability. Part three, “Collections,” featured capsule collections designed by sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

The “Unconventional Recycled” portion of the show included a competition judged by CARS alumni who are working within the fashion industry. The winners of the competition were: freshman Kiara Bethune for “Best Use of Materials”, sophomore Cassidy Burel for “Most Creative”, and freshman Elsbeth McGregor for “Best Showstopper”.

The production could not have been successful without the help of Threads officers, advisors, Triad DJ, volunteer hair and makeup artists, designers, models, and sponsors.
