Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Dr. Elena Karpova as she returns to UNC-G as the Putman and Hayes Distinguished Professor of the Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies Department!  Dr. Karpova joins us from Ames, Iowa where she was a Professor in the Department of Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management at Iowa State University.

Dr. Karpova earned her BS/MS in Technical Design and Apparel Production in 1991 from Omsk State Technological Institute in West Siberia, Russia.  She then transitioned to St. Petersburg State University of Technology and Design in Russia to work toward her PhD in Textile Science where she graduated in 1995.  Dr. Karpova then moved to Greensboro to pursue her PhD in Textile Products Marketing, now named Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies. She graduated from our program in 2005.  We are excited to welcome this alum back to campus!

In Dr. Karpova’s role as the Putnam and Hayes Distinguished Professor, she will be involved in research, serve as a mentor to faculty and students, teach, help create relationships with the Apparel Industry and seek research funding for the department and university.

Dr. Karpova is an impressive addition to CARS and we are excited to welcome her back!
