Nir Kshetri, a Charles A. Hayes Distinguished Professor at UNC Greensboro’s Bryan School of Business and Economics, has earned international recognition for his research in artificial intelligence, ranking among the world’s leading scholars in the latest Stanford–Elsevier Top 2% Scientists Database and ScholarGPS rankings.
In the October 2026 Stanford–Elsevier Top 2% Scientists Database, Kshetri is ranked No. 400 worldwide across all research fields and No. 26 in artificial intelligence and image processing. He is the highest-ranked researcher at UNCG, the only UNCG faculty member among the top 400 worldwide and one of four researchers in North Carolina in that group.
His research impact is also reflected in ScholarGPS, which ranked him No. 93 worldwide across all fields and No. 1 in generative artificial intelligence over the past five years.
“For me, this recognition reflects a longstanding commitment to researching consequential issues that matter beyond the boundaries of any single discipline or institution,” Kshetri said.
Kshetri’s research examines how emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital innovation, affect businesses, governments, and society. He sees the international recognition as evidence that his work can have an impact both within academia and beyond it.
“I hope this work will also help strengthen the visibility and reputation of both the Bryan School and UNCG as contributors to important global conversations about technology and its future,” Kshetri said.
