The PCAOB Scholarship is the largest and most prestigious scholarship awarded to a UNCG student. The ACF Scholarship committee selected Lauren Perdue as the 2023 recipient. Lauren is an Accelerated Master’s Program (AMP) student earning credits towards both her bachelor’s and master’s degree. She will graduate with her bachelor’s degree in December 2023, and will receive her master’s degree in December 2024.
The Bryan School is what brought Lauren to UNCG. She appreciates the smaller class sizes, and that the Bryan School has accreditation in business as well as accounting. The accelerated master’s program was also an attraction because of the great CPA Exam pass rates and job placement rates for the program. Lauren became interested in accounting when she took her first accounting class in high school. She liked the organization and the balancing aspect that made it both fun and understandable. She is currently taking the CPA exam and hopes to have it done before graduating with her MSA degree.
She already has a position after graduation with RSM in their Charlotte office as an Audit Associate. She ultimately hopes to earn the CFE and transition into a forensic accounting position.
Lauren has been the secretary/recorder for UNCG’s Beta Alpha Psi chapter since spring 2022 and has enjoyed every minute of it. She keeps track of the hours the club spends in professional meetings, community service, and tutoring. She was awarded the Accounting and Finance Department Service Award at the Spring 2023 ACF Celebration for her service to the ACF department.
In her free time Lauren likes to read Agatha Christie novels and crotchet. Lately she has been crocheting stuffed animals, which she then donates. She also crotchets plastic bags into door mats; it’s a great way to recycle the plastic and keep the plastic from going in the landfill. Her academic achievements and service make Lauren a most-deserving recipient of the PCAOB Scholarship recognition.
