The Bryan School of Business and Economics at UNC Greensboro has earned an accreditation extension in business and a supplemental accreditation extension in accounting from AACSB International — the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
Maintaining accreditation in both fields puts the Bryan School among the top 1 percent of business schools in the world.
“It is gratifying to have objective, outside experts examine our mission and methods and determine that we meet the highest standards in business and accounting education,” said Bryan School Dean McRae C. Banks. “The Bryan School is committed to offering a hands-on education that nurtures innovation, prizes ethical problem-solving and promotes a global perspective.”
Upon review, the accreditation team was particularly complimentary of the Bryan School’s support of its students, from resources put into scholarship programs to efforts to help them with internships and jobs. The access and flexibility of the school’s online programs were also praised, similar to previous accreditation cycles.
In addition to research productivity, the team also noted the school’s support for its faculty and was extremely complimentary of the Bryan School’s inclusion of non-tenure track faculty members in school governance, which it found rare and progressive.
The accreditation extension will be valid for five years, after which the school will undergo another accreditation review.
One of the largest business schools in North Carolina, the Bryan School aims to produce principled leaders and exceptional problem solvers. Accredited since 1982, the school offers 11 undergraduate, six master’s, 11 graduate certificate, and four PhD programs.
