CARS students and alumni are changing gears and using their sewing skills to do their part to help protect against COVID-19.
Danielle Teah, a 2016 CARS graduate, started her own clothing line called TeahCouture following graduation. Teah Couture typically focuses on couture bonnets and custom garments but with rising concern for public safety, Danielle began to turn her focus toward making face masks. You can find face masks in a number of her signature prints including the Dori, Tchalla, Yaya, Aletha, and many more! All face masks are temporarily out of stock, but more are coming soon! Casey Crespo’s Etsy shop is sold out at the moment too! Casey, a CARS graduate from the class of 2007, has been switching gears from her activewear designs to creating sleek face masks for purchase. Casey’s Etsy store is CaseyCrespo.
Having a husband who is a nurse makes this pandemic hit all too close to home for CARS student Lindsey Flowers Smith. Lindsey, a Senior in CARS, just sent her husband to work with 50 masks she made herself to help protect the medical workers fighting the frontlines of COVID. Way to go Lindsey!
Amanda Mercer (class of 2017) and Erica White (class of 2007) are also doing their part to help. Amanda has made 500 masks so far for local companies and continues to make more for her Etsy page, SparkleMae. Erica has been making masks for the public and selling them on her Facebook page!
