CELEBRATING CONSUMER, APPAREL, AND RETAIL STUDIES 100TH ANNIVERSARY!

JOSEPH M. BRYAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS

The Department of Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies turns 100!

Although clothing and textiles have been important subjects taught at UNCG since the school was founded in 1891, the clothing and textiles program was officially named as a department in 1917. Called the Department of Clothing and Textiles and Housing, the department would later be named Clothing and Textiles until the early 1990s, when it became the Department of Textile Products Design and Marketing. The department was given its current name, Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies, in 2005.

Even though the department now bears a different name than when it began one hundred years ago, its legacy and commitment to higher education at UNCG has remained unchanged.

Help us to mark the department’s 100th anniversary by joining us in honoring its enduring impact on students, alumni, and the broader industry community.

Help us to honor the successes of the past century and ensure they will continue into the next
