CARS Faculty Recognized for Excellence in Teaching

Congratulations to Ms. Melanie Carrico and Ms. Anne Wood for being recognized with a Teaching Excellence Award in the Bryan School for the 2019-2020 academic year!  This award recognizes faculty who excel in the classroom facilitating student learning, development, and accomplishments.

 

Ms. Carrico was awarded the Senior Teaching Excellence Award for her work in CARS apparel design courses.  She has been a part of the CARS faculty for 14 years teaching courses such as Fundamentals of Apparel Product Design and Advanced Patternmaking and Draping.  Ms. Carrico is regarded as “a highly innovative and creative teacher.”  She holds her students to the highest academic standards and takes an individualized approach to teaching.  Ms. Carrico supports students in undergraduate research as well as work in outside club projects.

 

Ms. Anne Wood was awarded the Lecturer Teaching Excellence Award for her work in CARS retail courses such as Visual Merchandising and Product Presentation and the CARS Internship program.  She has been part of the CARS faculty since Fall 2015 after her graduation from CARS Master’s program in December 2014.  Ms. Wood is commended by students for her “warmth and excellence in teaching” and her varying teaching measures intended to encompass various learning styles.  She also works closely with the apparel industry to provide ample opportunity for student professional development and internship opportunities.

What an honor it is to have two among CARS excellent faculty awarded for their hard work!
