When a department like CARS turns 100, celebrating with a fashion show is an absolute must! To recognize our 100th anniversary in style, CARS hosted a Gala Alumni Celebration on September 29, 2017.
Held at the Revolution Mill events center, guests–dressed in “creatively formal” attire– enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a chance to mingle with CARS faculty and alumni while bidding on silent auction items. Several pieces from the CARS Historic Costume Collection were featured on mannequins alongside a high-tech display of 3D technology that morphed these historic designs into contemporary fashion, created by CARS graduates currently working at VF Corporation. VF was one of the platinum event sponsors, along with Hanes Brands and other local businesses.
Dinner was followed by a salon-style fashion show titled, Centennial Inspirations featuring 25 designs by CARS alumni, current students, and faculty. Apparel design graduate Nhi Tran and current student Hope Rogers took home prizes for best historical interpretation and best overall garment design. In true CARS style, it was an elegant evening of fun, food, and fashion enjoyed by all!
