New Assistant Professor Dr. Grace Bang

Please join us in formally welcoming Dr. Hauen “Grace” Bang to the Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies Department!  Dr. Bang joined the CARS Department in Fall 2019 as a Visiting Assistant Professor and is now part of the department as a full-time Assistant Professor. Dr. Bang completed a Bachelor of Arts at Mongolia International University with a degree in Fashion Design in 2011, a Master of Science degree at Seoul National University in Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design in 2014, and completed a PhD in Apparel Studies at The University of Minnesota in June 2019.  Her teaching interests involve Pattern Making and Draping, Fashion Illustration, and Aesthetics in Dress and her research interests include sustainable apparel consumption, fashion and active aging, and cross-cultural influences on design.  

Dr. Bang’s responsibilities in the CARS department include, teaching Portfolio Development for Apparel Design, Studio II: Patternmaking and Draping, Studio IV: Creative and Technical Design, and Design Principles and Technology.  Dr. Bang is also one of the faculty advisors for the CARS student organization Threads, meaning she helps manage functions such as their annual fashion shows and fund-raising opportunities.
