Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc. rolled out the red carpet for motivated Bryan School students during a January 27th “Company Trek” to the Tanger headquarters in Greensboro and their outlet center in Mebane. Students were required to apply for the selective event, and review customized business case-study materials from Tanger before the outing. Sixteen undergraduate and graduate students were chosen to participate.

Students were welcomed by Tom Guerrieri, VP and Controller of Tanger, who provided an overview of the company and its history. They then toured the newly-renovated corporate offices near Friendly Center before breaking into groups to learn more about the human resources, marketing, accounting, and operational functions at Tanger. Students enjoyed a lunch with executives and were presented with gift cards before traveling to the Tanger Factory Outlet in Mebane. There they learned more about on-site operations from General Manager, Jeff Johnson. Finally, students enjoyed some shopping time before returning to campus.

Guerrieri said that he hoped students would reach out to him after the event to share their perspective on the Tanger shopping experience, as he was particularly interested in feedback from their generation. He had clearly studied students’ resumes, and called out students by name to learn more about their experiences. The event provided students with not just information about the Tanger company, but a unique opportunity for networking with executives.

“Experiential learning opportunities and time with outstanding employer partners are crucial to the development of the exceptional problem solvers of the Bryan School. The team at Tanger Outlets went above and beyond and our students had a great time exploring new career options.” Bramley Crisco, Bryan School Employer Relations
