Finance Major
On Campus and Online Options
Excel in the World of Finance
Students majoring in Finance develop the analytical abilities and problem-solving skills needed to identify business problems and opportunities and utilize a wide variety of skills to implement solutions to these problems. Emphasis is placed on acquiring an understanding of financial systems from both a market and managerial viewpoint through courses in business finance, financial institutions and markets, and investments, among others. Coursework in business, accounting, and economics both complement and augment the finance curriculum allowing for a broader understanding and analysis of factors affecting the financial sector.
Both inside and outside of the classroom, opportunities are available to explore the many areas of finance. Events such as Company Spotlights introduce students to members of the local business community and provide an overview of employment prospects available through internships and following graduation. Through participation in the Spartan Investment Club, students are provided with learning opportunities through various competitions and challenges, assistance in preparing for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification exam, and interaction with professionals in the field of finance.
