UNC Greensboro’s Joseph M. Bryan School of Business and Economics offers some of the best online business programs in the U.S., according to new rankings released Tuesday by U.S. News and World Report.

U.S. News assessed 1,833 and ranked 1,730 online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs for this year’s lists, the most in the ranking’s history.

The Bryan School’s Master of Science in Information Technology and Management snagged the highest national ranking, coming in as the No. 31 such program nationwide.

In the category of Online Bachelor’s in Business, the Bryan School came in at No. 44 in the U.S., the second-best national mark among schools in North Carolina.

The UNCG MBA program was acknowledged in two separate categories, both as the No. 73 online MBA offering in the country as well as the nation’s No. 54 online MBA for veterans — the latter of which being the second-best national mark among schools in North Carolina.

To qualify as one of the Best Online Programs for Veterans, schools must appear in the top half of the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Online Programs rankings; be certified for the GI Bill; and either be Yellow Ribbon Program participants or public institutions that charge in-state tuition, which can be fully paid through the GI Bill for out-of-state applicants. Additionally, a minimum of 25 veterans and active service members must be enrolled in a bachelor’s program to qualify for the rankings, with 10 needed for a master’s program.

The complete list of Bryan School accolades can be found below:

  • No. 31 in U.S. Online Master’s Computer Information Technology
  • No. 44 in U.S. Online Bachelor’s in Business
    • No. 2 in North Carolina
  • No. 54 in U.S. Online MBA for Veterans
    • No. 2 in North Carolina
  • No. 73 in U.S. Online MBA
  • No. 87 in U.S. Online Master’s in Business (non-MBA)

This is not the first year the Bryan School has earned high marks from U.S. News and World Report as it relates to online learning. “While online learning increased in popularity at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, many institutions – like some ranked in the 2023 U.S. News Best Online Programs – were ahead of the curve, having offered online degree options for years,” the organization’s website states.
