Both on-campus and online students have access to Bryan School and UNCG student resources such as career and professional development, academic support, and other services. Both types of students also participate in interactions with classmates and faculty.

Here are a few things to consider:

  • Course Availability: On campus students have the ability to enroll in both on campus and online courses, while online students may only enroll in online courses. Therefore, on campus-students have access to a greater variety of courses.
  • Costs: Online programs usually cost less than on-campus programs, as there are typically fewer fees. Online students also do not incur costs relating to transportation and parking.
  • Schedule: All Bryan School online courses are asynchronous meaning they do not occur at a specified time. Therefore, online students have the flexibility to engage in coursework on their own schedule. Please be mindful that almost every course requires project or group work, so some schedule coordination with classmates may be needed.
  • Networking: On-campus and online students can both engage in successful networking with classmates. While on-campus students rely on being in the same place at the same time, online students can connect with classmates anytime.
  • Learning Style: When considering on-campus and online programs, it’s also important to take your personal learning style into account. To help with this decision, the Bryan Graduate Recruitment Team has published an Online Course Preview to explore the learning platform we use and how faculty typically navigate posting assignments.

Students should begin their research for internships and potential jobs during their first enrollment term and continue throughout their studies. Each program offers unique opportunities, therefore students are encouraged to contact their program advisor. In addition to program-level opportunities, the Bryan School has developed strong business partnerships and an alumni network of over 24,000 graduates worldwide. Our business partners engage with on-campus and online students throughout the year, and many come ready to hire interns or full-time positions. Students are encouraged to take advantage of all the professional development services offered to graduate students through the Bryan Graduate Career Center, including career coaching, workshops, and more.

A review of cost-of-living calculators indicates that the cost of living in Greensboro is well below the national average. The Graduate School has prepared a collection of financial planning resources to help students review their options.

Yes, online students have access to Bryan School and UNCG student resources such as career and professional development, academic support, and other services.

All Bryan School online courses are asynchronous meaning they do not occur at a specified time. Therefore, online students have the flexibility to engage in coursework on their own schedule. As with on-campus courses, online course curriculums vary based on the faculty and topic. Faculty use pre-recorded lectures, group projects, presentations, simulations, and many other tools to engage with students.

Both graduate certificate and Master’s programs have a specified curriculum, however a graduate certificate is not considered an academic degree. Graduate certificates are pursued for both professional and academic reasons and can take place at the pre-baccalaureate, post-baccalaureate, or post-Master’s stage. In some cases, credits earned in certificate programs can be transferred into a Master’s program and used to waive certain application requirements.

Yes, graduate students are invited and encouraged to participate in Bryan School student organizations as well as UNCG graduate student organizations.

Bryan School departments and programs are involved in a variety of business sectors which are mentioned on their departmental webpages. The Bryan School has also developed strong business partnerships with local, regional, national, and international companies.

For on-campus students, faculty suggest setting aside one hour of study time for each hour you spend in the classroom each week. For example, for a class that meets once per week for 3 hours students should plan to spend an additional 3 hours outside of the classroom.

Online students should be prepared to spend two hours per week for every credit hour of enrolled coursework. For example, if a student is enrolled in 6 credit hours, they should plan to spend 12 hours per week engaged in the course.
