John Chapman, staff member with the Bryan School of Business and Economics, will be presented with the 2019-20 UNC Greensboro SoCon Staff Award during the December 15 men’s basketball game against NC State. The award will be presented by Jim Schaus, SoCon Commissioner.

Chapman joined the Bryan School in 2013 after a highly successful career as an entrepreneur and business executive. In addition to working with the School’s Executive Education program, Chapman co-founded the North Carolina Sales Institute to help fill the growing need for sales professionals. In addition to overseeing this public-private partnership with local employers, he teaches sales management classes. He is an advisor for the NC Sales Institute Student Business group, which has grown from nine participants in Fall 2016 to 96 students in Fall 2020. He also oversees the Bryan School’s participation in the National Millennial Community and Gen Z Council. This national organization provides students from less-recognized institutions the opportunity to meet with the leaders of Fortune 1000 companies.

Outside of UNC Greensboro, Chapman has been very involved in Junior Achievement of Central NC and has been involved in his church’s board of directors.

Chapman’s team-orientated approach to business comes from his interest in sports. He was a successful college baseball player at the University of Connecticut, where he earned the opportunity to play in the College World Series. He serves as a point of contact between UNCG Athletics and the Bryan School and is an active supporter of all Spartan teams.

Chapman will be presented with a plaque during the eight-minute timeout during the first half of the game.
