Mission of the Society
The mission of the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) International Honor Society is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business and personal and professional excellence in the practice of business.
About
BGS is the international business honor society. Since 1913 they have recognized and honored top-performing students from around the world in business schools accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). They are also a proud member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS). They are dedicated to providing lifetime value for our members, by offering programs, connections, benefits, and opportunities to every individual within our organization.
Membership
Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in an undergraduate or master’s program at a school accredited by AACSB-The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. With the expansion of AACSB accreditation internationally, membership is no longer limited to those who have studied in the U.S. or Canada.
Of the 1,400 U.S. institutions with degree programs in business, fewer than 600 are accredited by AACSB and have chapters of Beta Gamma Sigma.
While almost 300,000 students receive baccalaureate or master’s degrees in business each year, only about 16,000 students are elected to membership in Beta Gamma Sigma.
To be eligible for membership, the academic ranking of those being considered must place them in the:
BGS and Societal Impact
BGS believes business can be a force for global good and is committed to incorporating the environmental, social, & governance (ESGs) criteria and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their programming. One of their recent initiatives was the BGS x SDGs Launch Leadership Conference, a virtual conference that connected, educated, and empowered participants to be catalysts for change in their communities.
